The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board’s purpose is to: study recreational needs for all ages in the City, review the utilization of public land and facilities, study existing recreation activities, assess future needs, review and recommend land acquisition for public purposes and create and implement the Parks Master Plan.
Meetings are held the 1st Thursday of the Month at 6 PM at City Hall.
Sec. 2-267. - Membership; appointments.
The parks and recreational advisory board shall consist of five members who shall be appointed by the city commission. Each commissioner shall nominate one representative to the board.

Sec. 2-268. - Limitation on terms of office.
The parks and recreational advisory board members shall serve at the pleasure of the commission; however, no board member shall serve for more than two consecutive years without reappointment by the commission.

Sec. 2-269. - Duties and responsibilities.
The duties and responsibilities of the parks and recreational advisory board shall be:
(1)
To review the utilization of current parks and recreation areas and make recommendations for increased utilization and maintenance of said areas to the city commission.
(2)
To maintain open communication with the county and other partners in the use of the parks and recreation areas and keep the commission advised as to utilization of said areas, proposed and needed improvements, and make such recommendations to the commission.
(3)
To seek funding resources through grants, etc., to enhance the utilization of existing facilities and to provide such other additional facilities that the board may deem appropriate.
